Administration Officer - Environment and Science

The purpose of this role is to manage a range of administrative, financial support and human resource services for a team whose primary function is to regulate resource sector activities on Queensland Parks and Wildlife Estate (QPWS) in the Southern Great Barrier Reef area. The role maintains databases and other information systems, undertakes record management duties, and assists in organising events. The role fields routine enquiries from proponents, team members and senior staff on the progress of applications and maintains and updates templates and prepares correspondence as required.
Whitsundays or Gladstone Regional living (BOLD) Off the clock, you'll be spoilt for choice of activities, with the spectacular southern Great Barrier Reef and beautiful coastline at your doorstep; diving, camping, and fishing are staple activities for us here. Jump on a ferry and go diving with the rays at one of the coastal islands such as Keppel, Heron or Lady Musgrave Islands! There really is something for everyone to do in this region.

You'll need:

  • Knowledge of contemporary public sector finance, administration, information management and human resource principles, practices and associated support systems.
  • Knowledge of or an ability to rapidly acquire sound knowledge and competently use departmental databases, document management systems and computer software as they relate to position.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as an effective team member, manage projects, co-ordinate workflow, meet deadlines, establish work priorities and provide administrative support.
  • Sound interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to provide appropriate written and verbal advice and replies to clients
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills to identify and initiate opportunities for improved business practices.
